Green room self portrait with new Kyle Webster brushes. Things I’ve learned from all these sketches: I tend to draw the right eye higher than the left for no reason. All my noses and ears are drawn the same without considering what that person really looks like. I’m confident with hair and eyes. Everyone also seems to look angry or too old and I can’t figure out why. And lastly I prefer dry media to wet after years of thinking otherwise.
Been doing warm up sketches each morning with limited palettes and a different set of photoshop brushes. Been good practice with different values and learning some tools I probably would’ve otherwise avoided. Each of them take about half an hour, trying to cut down on the time as I do more.
a few months ago, I did some lettering for my friends in The Wonder Years. Started working on some new stuff for them today and realized I never posted the old stuff, so heres the end results and a few sketches.
Here is the expanded version of the La Dispute/Touche Amore poster that will be available as a limited edition 3-color screen print at the show. The halftones look a little bit strange when the image is so small, but in print they look awesome.
